Promti or Framer: a finished 3D site, or the tools to build your own
Framer is a website builder that also hosts what you make. You design pages on its canvas — from a blank page, a template or a prompt to its AI agent — animate them without code, keep articles in its CMS and publish on Framer’s servers, with a plan paid monthly or yearly.
Updated
Promti sells immersive sites that are already made, one kit per kind of business: a single product, a place, an app, a studio. You answer a wizard, watch your own site take shape as you type, pay once and download plain HTML, CSS and JS to host wherever you like.
The real difference: Framer gives you a tool to make any site and keeps it online while you pay; Promti gives you one page in 3D, finished, that you keep with no time limit — but you change it through the wizard, not in an editor.
Side by side
| — | Promti | Framer |
|---|---|---|
| How you pay | €500, once. No subscription, and no monthly fee to Promti. | A plan for each site: Basic is €10 a month billed yearly or €15 month to month; Pro is €30 or €45. Any tax that applies is added at checkout. |
| What you get | A finished immersive page for your kind of business, made from one of the kits, with step-by-step guides and a 30-minute call with Eric. | A design tool and a host. You make the site yourself on Framer’s canvas — from scratch, from a template or with its AI agent. |
| Hosting and domain | You host the files; a guide puts them on Cloudflare’s free plan in about five minutes. A domain costs around €10–15 a year. | Framer hosts the site. Paid plans connect your own domain, and a yearly plan includes the domain’s first year. |
| Changing it later | Reopen the wizard in the browser you used, change your answers, download again and upload the new folder. Or edit the code yourself. | Any time, on the canvas or on the live site with on-page editing. The workspace owner edits free; each extra editor is €20 a month, billed yearly. |
| Pages, CMS and blog | Just the one page, plus a legal page and a 404 for broken links. No CMS and no blog. | Basic: 30 pages and 2 CMS collections with 1,000 items. Pro: 150 pages and 10 collections — for articles, case studies, events. |
| Selling | The page’s buttons open your Stripe payment link, your shop, your booking page or your app’s store listing. There’s no cart. | The plans list no built-in shop. Framer’s marketplace has ecommerce plugins, several of them linking a Shopify store. |
| Motion and 3D | A real-time 3D scene written in code for the kit, which the camera travels through as visitors scroll. The set is the kit’s; your content goes into it. | Scroll animations and scroll transforms, set up without code. 3D comes in through embeds — its blog shows a Spline scene placed with the Embed component. |
| The files | A zip of plain HTML, CSS and JS, with your pictures and the typefaces inside. Yours to host and change, for your own business. | Its help centre says Framer doesn’t offer HTML export for self-hosting. CMS content can be exported with plugins, as CSV or JSON. |
| If you stop paying | Nothing to stop: there is no fee. The site stays up for as long as your host serves it. | The plan’s features last to the end of the billing period. The free plan doesn’t connect a custom domain and shows a “Made in Framer” banner. |
| Languages | One, English or Spanish, chosen in the wizard. | The Localization add-on: up to 20 locales, translated with AI, at €20 each a month billed yearly (€25 monthly). |
| Time to launch | The same day, if your words are ready: the wizard first, then about five minutes to publish. | However long the design takes you. A template from its marketplace or its AI agent gives you a starting point. |
Promti fits when…
- One page can say it all: a single product, one place, one app or one studio’s work, with a clear button at the end.
- You want a site that moves in real-time 3D without designing or animating anything yourself.
- You’d rather pay once than take on another subscription.
- You want the files in your hands, hosted where you choose — Cloudflare’s free plan included.
- You want to see the finished site, with your own words in it, before you pay.
Framer fits when…
- You need several pages — services, locations, one for each project — and more as the business grows.
- You’ll publish articles, news or case studies regularly: that’s what Framer’s CMS is for.
- You want to change the layout and the design yourself, whenever you like, and not only the words.
- More than one person will edit the site: Framer has editor seats, content editors and editing on the live page.
- The site needs several languages: Framer’s Localization add-on takes it to up to 20 locales.
What each costs
Promti: €500, paid once. Hosting on Cloudflare’s free plan costs €0 and a domain around €10–15 a year, so the first year comes to €500 plus the domain, and three years to €500 plus about €30–45 of domain. Anything else is optional and billed by whoever provides it, such as Stripe’s fee on each sale.
Framer: a business site on its own domain needs a paid plan, as the free one doesn’t connect a custom domain and Framer describes it as ideal for non-commercial use. Basic is €10 a month billed yearly — €120, paid upfront each year — or €15 month to month, €180 a year: €360 or €540 over three years. Pro is €30 or €45 a month: €360 or €540 a year, €1,080 or €1,620 over three. A yearly plan includes the domain’s first year; after that it renews at the standard rate. Tax, where it applies, is added at checkout.
The two sums pay for different things. Framer’s fee covers its editor and its hosting for as long as the site is online. Promti’s covers one finished site; keeping it online afterwards is up to you, and costs nothing on Cloudflare’s free plan.
Questions
- Can Framer make a 3D site like a Promti kit?
- Framer animates on scroll, without code, and it can embed a 3D scene — its own blog shows one from Spline placed with the Embed component. The scene, the camera and the timing would be yours to make, or to commission. A Promti kit comes with all three finished: you add your words and colours and, depending on the kit, your 3D model, screenshots or pictures. In Forest, six of your own photos become the 3D scenes.
- Can I move a Framer site to another host?
- Framer’s help centre answers no: it doesn’t offer HTML export for self-hosting, because published sites depend on its own services, such as pre-rendering and image resizing. Its data-portability page says the published output uses standard HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and that CMS content can be exported with plugins as CSV or JSON. A Promti site is a folder of files from the first download.
- How do I change a Promti site after it’s live?
- Open the wizard again in the browser where you made it, since that is where your answers are kept. Change what you need, download again and drop the new folder onto your host, as the publishing guide shows. Promti keeps no copy of your answers, so look after the zip. If you expect to change the site every week, Framer’s editor suits that better.
- Can I try either one for free?
- Framer’s free plan, which Framer calls ideal for non-commercial use, comes with a Framer address, 1 GB of bandwidth and a “Made in Framer” banner. With Promti you make your whole site in the wizard and see it on a phone and a desktop before paying anything.
- Which is better for a site in two languages?
- Framer. A Promti site is in one language, English or Spanish, picked in the wizard. Framer’s Localization add-on adds up to 20 locales to one site, at €20 per locale a month billed yearly, or €25 month to month.
